Aircharge Wireless Charging deployed across Finnair airport lounges

Sep 2, 2016

Aircharge, leader in wireless charging solutions, and Finnair have partnered up to offer Aircharge wireless charging across the Finnish flag carrier airline’s lounges in their Helsinki airport hub

Finnair, the largest airline in Finland and one of the world's oldest still operating, now provide the Aircharge mobile phone Qi wireless charging solution across all their Helsinki airport lounges.

The introduction of wireless charging units offers their passengers an essential complimentary service, enabling them to top up their mobile phones whilst waiting for their flights to board.

With mobile devices becoming the best travel companions for personal and business purposes, including the use of mobile check-in and boarding applications and mobile payments, passengers are more than ever in need of a safe and convenient way to keep their device battery fully powered at the airport.

Finnair captured this upcoming trend and they are amongst the first airlines in the world to enable their customers to wirelessly charge their phones with deployment across all their Helsinki airport lounges. ‘Having mobile charging available automatically is a necessity in today’s world and our customers are expecting us to offer it as a service’ explained Minna Väätäinen, Finnair’s Manager of Passenger Services (Lounges).

Aircharge wireless charging solution enables wireless charging for the majority of mobile devices, using either in-built Qi wireless charging functionality, or through the use of the “Orb”, a unique bridging technology that accompanies each Aircharge wireless charging unit.

The Finnair installation is part of Aircharge’s growth plan to strengthen their wireless charging ecosystem with public space deployment across the retail and hospitality sectors, in order to free smartphone users from the fear of running out of battery and provide them with a solution they can always rely on, wherever and whenever in need of a boost.

Ryan Sanderson, Commercial Director at Aircharge, commented, “The expansion into the transportation sector including airports and railway stations, enhances our public space proposition and offers customers like the Finnair’s lounge passengers, a convenient solution when they are most in need of keeping their mobile phones charged,”.

Aircharge already provides the most extensive wireless charging network deployed in public spaces and through their Aircharge locator App, guide users to the nearest of the 5,000 Qi public wireless chargers available globally. The app can be downloaded on iOS, Android and Windows devices.
