Aircharge, pioneer in bringing Qi wireless charging to public venues, has announced today the introduction of the innovative Battery Pack to power its Wireless Surface Charger technology. The battery pack is a first-to-market in the industry and it is aimed to strengthen Aircharge’s leadership across B2B sectors which include retail, hospitality, travel and leisure

This unique solution comes in a Battery Pack Starter pack including an intelligent charging rack and 5 rechargeable 18,000 mAh capacity battery pucks. The battery packs are interchangeable for rapid swap out and use a key-secured twist and lock mechanism for safe and easy deployment under the table or counter surface. Designed in a modular fashion, once an Aircharge Wireless Surface Charger is added, a full wireless charging solution is formed. Each battery puck guarantees 8 full charging cycles when combined with an Aircharge Wireless Surface Charger, before having to be placed back in the rack for recharging. Additional battery packs are sold separately.

‘The battery pack complements our widely deployed Wireless Surface Charger which is typically used where a mains power feed is available, enabling our partners to bring wireless charging to areas of a venue where there is no direct access to power.’ said Ryan Sanderson, CTO at Aircharge. The introduction of the battery pack broadens the use cases and venues where the Aircharge wireless charging solutions can be implemented, either combining the mains power driven and battery powered wireless charging solutions together or using them independently. These include:

  • Restaurants, bars and cafés with furniture which is not fixed or is moved regularly
  • Office break out areas
  • Malls and shops
  • Hotel, train station and airport lounges and waiting areas
  • Events and exhibitions

Aircharge already provides the most extensive wireless charging network deployed in public spaces and through their Aircharge Qi locator App, guides users to the nearest of over 5,000 Qi public wireless chargers available globally. The app can be downloaded on iOS, Android and Windows devices. Offering compatibility with any micro USB, USB-c or Lightning based products, Aircharge enables any smartphone and most portable tech gadgets and accessories to charge wirelessly.

The battery pack will be officially presented on Wednesday the 21st of September at the 100% Design exhibition in Olympia, London. Orders are already available.

(*Based on wirelessly charging Apple iPhone 6. A recharge cycle is defined as charging the battery from zero to 100%)
