Take Off with Aircharge Wireless Charging in Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses

Nov 2, 2015

Aircharge, leader in wireless charging solutions for home, office and public venues, announced today that it has teamed up with Virgin Atlantic to offer wireless phone charging in the Clubhouses at London Heathrow and Gatwick airports

With portable electronic devices playing an increasingly important role in our lives, whether for personal or business use, the challenge of keeping them charged on the go is often difficult.

Passengers can now top up their mobile devices whilst relaxing in Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses at London Heathrow and Gatwick airports via a number of deployed wireless charging solutions provided by UK company Aircharge. The installation of Aircharge wireless surface chargers, and Koncept lamps with integrated Aircharge wireless chargers, helps travellers keep their mobile phones topped up whilst they wait for their flights to board.

Aircharge wireless charging solutions are compatible with the global wireless charging standard, Qi. The adoption of Qi wireless charging is accelerating rapidly with more than 85 mobile phones now compatible, along with an increasing number of smart watches and other portable electronic devices. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse visitors with devices that have Qi built in can simply place their device on one of the Aircharge wireless chargers to top up their battery. Those with devices that don’t yet have built-in wireless charging capabilities can use one of the deployed Aircharge accessories to enable their device.

Ryan Sanderson, Commercial Development Manager at Aircharge commented, “Airports signify one of the most important public spaces where convenient and safe access to charging is becoming essential. The rapid adoption of functions such as mobile check-in and boarding, along with mobile payment and increased security measures on battery-powered devices, are driving this necessity”.

Sanderson added, “It’s great to see this initiative from Virgin Atlantic as an early adopter, strengthening the wireless charging ecosystem with public space deployment.”
