Chinese Tech Giant Xiaomi Joins the WPC

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has joined the Wireless Power Consortium, which now boasts over 250 members all committed to the Qi wireless charging standard. There are nearly 900 devices and products which utilise Qi technology on the market, with Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone likely to join them when it is launched early in 2018.

The WPC has featured heavily in global news and tech blogs following the launch of wireless charging in the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X from fellow member Apple and long-term WPC member Samsung has been using the Qi wireless standard in their Galaxy range since the S6 and now in the latest S8 and Note 8 models. Now it is expected that Xiaomi will follow suit to include Qi in their newest model, introducing their customers to the ease and simplicity of wireless charging for the first time.
