Aircharge announced as proud winner of QSR Magazine’s applied tech award

Nov 2, 2020

A biennial award from the leading source of news and information for the $570 billion quick-service industry recognises Aircharge as one of the best tech platforms and products of 2020, specifically identifying “tech products that help restaurant operators tackle the myriad of challenges presented by this crisis.”

Aircharge is the proud winner of the customer-facing category of QSR magazine’s award for its wireless charging solutions combined with the Aircharge+ interface for at table ordering and digital services. QSR Magazine’s applied tech awards are renowned for identifying the best tech platforms that are actively improving the QSR industry and streamlining business operations. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it sought tech products that assist on tackling issues presented by this crisis. Aircharge is delighted to have received the reward and to be supporting businesses via its technology throughout these challenging times.

Above is a short video explaining the solution and how it works.

The Aircharge wireless charger or digital marker act as a direct call to action for mobile ordering within the QSR industry. It is possible for vendors to co-brand the wireless charger or digital marker solution with full-bleed colour and image printing. The QR & NFC activated hardware can either deep-link directly through to the venues app for table ordering or via an Aircharge ordering platform partner who offer their own fully integrated POS solution. With a rapid shift towards QSR customers required to use their smartphone device to order at table, Aircharge’s wireless charging solution complements its digital markers perfectly to ensure that the always-connected customer does not run out of battery during the middle of a transaction. Both the Digital Marker and Wireless Charger are made from a tempered glass but are also available in a fully inclusive anti-microbial braille option.

The Aircharge+ landing page offers the user additional services alongside table ordering. These are fully customisable by the vendor and can be used as an interactive platform, displaying the venues WiFi details, real-time promotions, menu’s and allowing customers the opportunity to leave feedback about the service they received. On top of this, it is also possible to collect track and trace information with the Aircharge+ contact tracing form.

Hissho Sushi, USA’s second-largest sushi franchise is the latest to enjoy Aircharge+’s innovative platform to help ensure guest safety. Guests can use the digital marker to order their favourite menu items directly from their smartphones without having to interact with staff or touch reusable menu – a worry that 75% of diners wrestle with, according to a May survey by BentoBox (Food&Wine). “Hissho Sushi is seeing a gradual return of customers who feel comfortable enough to enjoy visiting restaurants again,” says Dan Beem, CEO of Hissho Sushi. “But we know we have to earn their trust ‐‐ they are very cautious about the safety of the establishments they visit. Hissho is doing everything we can to make guests feel safe, so they can enjoy our delicious, fresh rolls and feel confident coming back, whenever the craving for sushi hits.”

Aircharge is a globally approved supplier for the early market mover McDonald’s and the Experience of The Future programme. Enabling customers to easily top up their smartphones at their tables without having to plug them in or bring a cable to the venue with them. Since the partnership began in 2015 Aircharge is present in over 1000 McDonald’s stores globally, a number that continues to grow. McDonald’s are actively piloting Aircharge+ in 28 stores in the United States, enabling table ordering and deep-linking users who scan the QR code or tap the NFC directly to the McDonald’s app to continue their order.

“It feels great to be doing our bit and trying to help the Quick Service Restaurant’s get back to operating and assisting in creating a safe experience for their customers.” Says Steve Liquorish CEO & Founder of AIRCHARGE. “In a time of such uncertainty for the hospitality industry and those alike, the award is a reminder as to why we continue doing what we do and is a reflection of the hardwork at Aircharge by the entire team.”
